Preparing for Your Visit
How to Prepare
During your first appointment, you’ll meet your health care team and start your cancer care journey. You may meet with one or more specialists who will ask questions about your health history, complete a physical exam, explain your diagnosis and discuss your next steps.
You may need additional testing, including blood tests, X-rays or biopsies. After your tests, you may meet with your provider and other specialists to explore your treatment options. Your doctors and care team will work together with you and your family to identify the best care plan for you.
You’ll receive a lot of information at your first appointment. Take a moment to write down questions for your next appointment. These questions can help you better understand your diagnosis and treatment options.

North Dakota Hemophilia Treatment Center
Sanford’s Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders houses the only federally funded hemophilia treatment center in North Dakota. Our expert multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive specialty care for both pediatric and adult patients with bleeding and clotting disorders such as:
- Hemophilia
- Von Willebrand disease
- Platelet defects
- Hemoglobinopathies
- Other rare bleeding disorders
We provide a full range of services including specialized diagnostic testing, innovative treatment options, comprehensive education and a specialty pharmacy to meet the needs of those with complex bleeding and clotting disorders.
